The Pilates principle of Control truly exists at the root of the Pilates Method. When Joseph Pilates created his method he didn’t call it “Pilates,” instead he referred to it as “Contrology.” He described Contrology as “the complete coordination of body, mind and spirit. Through our Pilates practice we learn to take control of our body/mind/spirit by becoming deeply present and self aware.
