Meet Loren Bassett…

The first time I took one of Loren’s classes I had no idea what I was in for. She teaches perhaps the most challenging class I have ever taken, EVER…. but does so in such a calm and soothing way that you don’t exactly know what you are about to do, until you realize that you are practicing an arm balance that you had previously labeled “impossible.” Instead of allowing excitement to take over, the space she holds allows you to remain focused and present as you transition out of the arm balance into the next seemingly “impossible,” pose with grace and ease. She has a beautiful gift. I highly recommend experiencing one of her classes for yourself!

Loren’s bio:

I was first introduced to hot power vinyasa through a nutritionist 14 years ago in Dallas,Texas. A long-time competitive athlete, I was reluctant to try yoga because I didn’t think it would be challenging. I was amazed at how difficult it was, particularly the flexibility and balance aspect of the practice. The intense nature of this style immediately resonated with me. As I deepened my practice over the years, I embraced the profound and positive impact yoga has had on my life physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally.

I teach a rigorous, athletic flow, a “meditation in motion”, emphasizing strength, flexibility and balance, detoxifying the body and mind at their deepest level. Athletics and physical fitness has always been a passion and source of meditation for me. An advocate of cross-training, I recently created my own class called Bassett’s Boot Camp, combining everything I love to do in my fitness regime – hot power yoga, strength training with weights, cardio intervals and core work. Intense…love it!

I love making a difference and being a source of inspiration in peoples’ lives. I will challenge you, encourage you to try new things, build your confidence and strength and help you push through the mental and physical resistance. Serenity through strength. When you apply what you learn on your mat to your life off your mat, it changes your life.

My credentials include: (2) Level 1 teacher trainings with Baron Baptiste, a 200-hour teacher training certification from New York Yoga in 1992 and a 72-hour course in musculo-skeletal anatomy and kinesiology with Jason Brown in 2010; led a 100-hour Hot Power Teacher Training with Tanya Boulton at Pure Yoga January 2013.

Philanthropy and giving back is an important part of my life. I am a member of the Junior League of New York and have volunteered extensively for organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, ASPCA, the New York Foundling Hospital and Mott Haven Academy. My Morky, Max, recently became a therapy dog through the Good Dog Foundation. Incredibly rewarding. I received my BA in International Studies Communications from Pepperdine University in Malibu California.
